With dramatic cliffs, living root bridges, crystal-clear rivers, sacred forests, and the rhythmic beat of tribal drums, Meghalaya offers more than just scenic beauty — it offers a soulful escape.

How to get to Wari-Chora?

Trip Details

Adventure seekers can trek deep into jungles to discover double-decker living root bridges, explore caves carved by time in Mawsmai and Siju, or sail on the transparent waters of Dawki’s Umngot River. Rain-lovers will find a haven in Mawsynram, the wettest place on Earth.

In Meghalaya, the clouds don’t just float above you — they whisper to your spirit.

Day 1

Into the Highlands – Guwahati to Shillong (110 KM Approx)

Touch down in Guwahati and hit the road for Shillong, the Scotland of the East. But before you breathe in its crisp mountain air, stop by the enchanting Umiam Lake, a serene canvas of blue wrapped in pine-draped hills.
After check-in, brace yourself for Laitlum Canyon — literally "The End of Hills" — a dramatic cliff-edge panorama that dares you to pause, breathe, and feel infinite.
As dusk settles, dive into Police Bazaar’s vibrant chaos — where handwoven crafts meet sizzling ethnic street food. Wrap the night with a warm cup at Dylan’s Café, where coffee meets creativity.

Day 2

Waterfall Chase & Border Whispers – Shillong to Dawki (130 KM)

Begin the day with an adrenaline rush at the hidden gem, Phe Phe Waterfalls, followed by the roaring Krangshuri Falls with turquoise plunge pools straight out of a dream.
Next, drift through Dawki’s crystal-clear waters, where the boats appear to float mid-air. A quick detour takes you to the Indo-Bangla Border, where two worlds whisper across invisible lines. Spend the night under starlit skies in Dawki.

Day 3

Mist Trails & Living Wonders – Dawki to Cherrapunji (120 KM)

Wake to birdsong and move towards Mawlynnong, Asia’s cleanest village, where cleanliness is a way of life.
En route, stop at the mystical Elephant Falls and Mawkdok Dympep Viewpoint — your window to Meghalaya’s wild heart.
In Cherrapunji, where clouds kiss the earth, explore cascading marvels like Dainthlen and the emerald tiers of Wei Sawdong Falls. Cap it off with the majestic Nohkalikai Falls and the haunting beauty of Mawsmai & Arwah Caves.

Day 4

Into the Jungle’s Heart – Trek to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge

Lace up, because today is about conquering one of Northeast India’s most epic hikes.
From Tyrna village, descend over 3,000 steps into the lush realm of Nongriat, home to the legendary Double Decker Living Root Bridge — a feat of bioengineering and patience, grown not built.
After a sweaty, soul-filling day, return to Cherrapunji for a night of deserved rest.

Day 5

Onward to the West – Cherrapunji to Nongstoin (140 KM)

After breakfast, set course westward to the rugged lands of Nongstoin. Depending on the rhythm of the day, retrace any missed gems around Cherrapunji.
Arrive by evening in this lesser-known slice of Meghalaya, embraced by waterfalls and golden meadows. Overnight stay in Nongstoin.

Day 6

The Road Less Taken – Nongstoin to Emangre (180 KM)

Today, you're chasing the edge of maps. Visit the stunning Weinia Falls, a thunderous cascade lost in wilderness.
Then embark on a 5-hour journey through sleepy hills and winding trails to Emangre Village — your home for the night. Stay in a humble homestay or campsite and witness raw village life under a sky full of stars.

Day 7

Secrets of Wari Chora – A Hidden Water Kingdom

Wake early and hop into a camper for a short ride to the trailhead. From there, trek through dense greenery for an hour to reach Wari Chora — Meghalaya’s best-kept secret.
A crystal stream winds through narrow gorges, echoing with silence and bird calls. Paddle if you can, float if you must, but never forget this moment. Return to Emangre to rest your awe-struck soul.

Day 8

Echoes and Endings – Visit Siju Caves & Jadisil Fish Sanctuary

Your last chapter begins with the mystical Siju Caves, an underground world sculpted over millennia.
Then, head to the Jadisil Fish Sanctuary, a conservation marvel reviving indigenous aquatic life. After one final moment of stillness, journey back toward Guwahati or Shillong, carrying memories etched in mist, stone, and sky.
